Direqt | Instagram Integration¶

The Direqt-Instagram integration powers automated interactions with your Instagram followers via comments and DMs.

Getting Started¶

Follow the steps below to connect Direqt to your Instagram account.

Go to My Chatbots and click on the chatbot you'd like to link with Instagram.
Go to Chatbot Settings > Instagram, then click "Connect to Instagram".
When the pop-up appears, click Login with Instagram, and follow the prompts to log in to your Instagram account.
After you've logged into Instagram, You will be asked to grant permissions to Direqt-IG to manage your Instagram account. Click Allow for all of the permissions.
The window will automatically close and you will be redirected back to the Direqt console.

Success

You should now see a list of Instagram-related toggles in the Instagram tab of your chatbot settings. Your Direqt chatbot is now connected to Instagram.

Key Features¶

This section outlines the key features of the Direqt-Instagram integration and how they function.

Comment Replies¶

DM a link to the webpage associated with an Instagram post to any user who comments a configured comment keyword.

Public Replies¶

In addition to sending a DM, also post a public comment reply to users who comment on your post using a configured keyword.

Welcome Messages¶

Send first-time commenters a private message via DM, even if they don't use the comment keyword.

What happens if a user comments the keyword, but there's no page linked to the post?¶

If a user comments one of your keywords, but there is no webpage linked to that post, they will receive a configurable default message.

Chat via DM¶

When enabled, your chatbot will monitor your Instagram inbox and handle conversations with users who DM your account.

Linking webpages to posts¶

Linking webpages to your Instagram posts allows your chatbot to automatically send users a relevant link when they comment with the designated keyword.

Auto-linking¶

Direqt automatically attempts to auto-link pages to corresponding posts based on the text of the page and the description of the post. Auto-linking is attempted for a post when a user comments your keyword and there is no existing link.

Manually linking a webpage to a post¶

You can also manually link webpages to posts. To do so:

Click on the chatbot linked to your Instagram account, and then navigate to the Pages page.
Click on the three vertical dots to the right of the story you want to link to Instagram to reveal a dropdown menu, and then select Link to Instagram post.

When the pop-up display of your Instagram posts appears, click on the post you want to link to the story.
Click Link Post to make the connection.

Unlinking a page from an Instagram post¶

Navigate to the Pages page of the chatbot associated with your Instagram account and click on the story you want to unlink.
Go to the Media tab, then click on Unlink Instagram post.

Disconnecting your Direqt chatbot from Instagram¶

From My Chatbots, click on the chatbot you wish to disconnect.
Navigate to your Chatbot settings.
Click on the Instagram tab.
Click the Unlink Instagram button at the bottom of the page.
